Class 1

Class 1 marks the beginning of an exciting journey for pupils at Breachwood Green JMI School. In this nurturing environment, Reception children lay the foundations for their learning by engaging with the Early Years curriculum and embarking on their phonics and early reading  journey with Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised. This a complete systematic synthetic phonics programme designed to help children become confident, fluent readers. Little Wandle follows a carefully structured progression, enabling children to learn new sounds and letter patterns step-by-step while developing their reading, writing and spelling skills.

Through daily phonics lessons and regular reading practice, we aim to ensure that every child develops a secure foundation in literacy and a lifelong love of reading. Little Wandle provides consistency between school and home, helping children to make strong progress in their early reading journey.
